Today’s Scripture: 3 John 1-4 (S.O.A.P. 3 John 4)
1 From the elder, to Gaius my dear brother, whom I love in truth 2 Dear friend, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, just as you are living according to the truth.
4 I have no greater joy than this: to hear that my children are living according to the truth.
Nothing more true could be said than a parents joy knowing their child is a child of God and is walking in the truth. I can relate to John and his feelings of joy over this. Whether it’s your child or someone you have prayed over for salvation -there is no greater joy.
I find my greatest joy in helping those in need as it pertains to their mental health. I have dedicated my lift to be on the front lines of those most in need. I find joy in encouraging them and doing my best to meet their needs. I can understand why John found great joy in this because when you are passionate about helping those grow mentally or spiritually it brings a light about what you are doing.
Late commenting but thought I would go ahead … The emphasis and/or focus of John’s life is make clear by his statement that there is “no greater joy” than to hear that his “children” (believers) are living according (obeying) to the TRUTH. This is a good reminder to check the emphasis of my life … is it wrapped up in the cares of this world or in the call of God on my life? Where do I find my greatest joy?
