Today’s Scripture: 2 John 1-4 (S.O.A.P. 4)

Introduction and Thanksgiving From the elder, to an elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth (and not I alone, but also all those who know the truth), because of the truth  that resides in us and will be with us forever. Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us from God the Father and from Jesus Christ the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

I rejoiced greatly because I have found some of your children living according to the truth just as the Father commanded us.

John refers to the truth five times in these verses. That should tell us how important the truth is to a Christian. Truth is what binds us together. Even though some like to stretch the truth or give their version of the truth – the Christian knows that God is truth and never changing. Because the world likes to create their own truth we need to be very diligent in studying the Word so that we know when false teaching is being presented. Walking in God’s truth and abiding in Him keeps us prepared for the “evildoers “.

John was excited because he found people living according to the TRUTH. I think of how important it is to live following Scripture and what God commands, and how that is an exciting thing to be recognized for walking out our faith.

John rejoiced because he saw Gods children walking in the truth the word of God out in their lives as God commanded them to do. The truth is believing in Jesus Christ and following him not what the world tells us is the truth.
