In Jesus You Are … Chosen

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

In Jesus You Are … Adopted

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

Reflection Questions:

  • Being an adopted child of God means He can never disown you, no matter what you have done or may do. Do you believe this is true?
  • Why or why not?

In love and in accordance with God’s will, it was decided that we would be adopted into His family through Jesus Christ.

IN JESUS YOU ARE … SAVED!

But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)

  • How does it comfort you to know that He is always working for your deliverance, no matter the circumstance?

In Jesus, we are rescued. Not from flat tires or power outages, but from the enemy of our souls and an eternity in hell separated from God because of our sin.

IN JESUS YOU ARE … DELIVERED

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. 2 Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies. 3 For he has gathered the exiles from many lands, from east and west, from north and south. Psalm 107:1-3

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit. Reflection Question: What comfort do you find in knowing that God knows you and calls you by name?

We have been delivered (or redeemed), not by a distant God who puts all of humanity together, but a God who knows each of us by name.
