Greeting the Seven Churches

Satanic Rebellion Crushed

All Things Made New

Friends, as today’s LGG Journal entry points out, “This is the future reality the Bible paints for us.”1

We can only imagine what that day will be like… The sights and sounds, the reality of God wiping away every tear, death, sorrow, crying, and pain no longer being a part of life…The inexplicable joy of coming into the presence of God, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End…the One who will “freely give us, for all eternity, spiritual blessings to enjoy…resources from God that will be at our disposal for the enjoyment of the new heaven and earth.”2

Perhaps, like me, you are longing for that day…a day when God will dwell with His people as He did in the garden…a day when pain and sorrow and all of the harsh realities of this life will be over…the day when we will live in the New Jerusalem. “Oh, what a glorious day that will be!”3 If you do not have the certainty of that hope, but would like to learn how to share in it, I invite you to continue reading this post and then visit the link “Know These Truths.”

Revelation is unquestionably a complex book, especially for those of us who like things spelled out more than we appreciate descriptions or depictions that are a challenge to fully grasp and leave us shaking our heads, saying, “What?”. Honestly, while I dive into nearly every other book of the Bible without hesitation, I have tended to steer clear of the book of Revelation, not out of fear of what’s to come, but out of frustration and concern that I will be confused by or misunderstand the complexity of John’s words. However, as I find myself praying more and more, “Come, Lord Jesus, come,” I have become increasingly drawn to the book. I have a hunger to know more than the clear and certain truths of the end times that I have professed for years: Jesus is coming again…He will defeat not only Satan but all of His enemies…and He will rule forever as King. While traveling through “From the Beginning to Forever,” I have been reminded of the need to live with the full reality of eternity in mind – not just that I am going to live with Him forever in the New Jerusalem, but that those who have not believed in the Lord Jesus Christ will spend their eternity in hell. If I lose sight of this, I give the enemy a foothold to hold me back from sharing the message of the Gospel, which is the good news that Jesus saves, and that salvation is not only the promise of forgiveness and eternal life, but that it is the free gift of God to all who believe.4

Friends, knowing what our “forever” is, is a blessing above all blessings, for we know that, “We will day be glorified and spend eternity with the Savior.”5 However, may we never lose sight of the truth that those who have never believed face a real and certain eternity in anguish in the flame.6

Observation and Application for the journey

Have you found yourself longing more and more for the return of Christ? Do local or social media about world events escalate anxious thoughts and heighten your desire for His return to be sooner rather than later? I know it has mine. Come, Lord Jesus, Come is certainly on my lips more frequently these days than ever before. Surprisingly, for me, the prayer isn’t provoked by fear of mounting dangers and disasters but by sorrow and weariness of what is the acceptable, if not expected and even demanded, ways of this world. But, to borrow a few words from the prophet Jeremiah: “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope” – this world is not my home, I’m only passing through. I’m a stranger and alien here with a message of hope to share with others who do not know The Way, so they may go where I am going; and so those who know The Way may be equipped and encouraged to keep going in the right direction.

This isn’t a task given only to me; it is the assignment Jesus has given to each of His disciples. Yes, everyone who has trusted Him as their Savior has been commissioned to “go and make disciples,” introducing the Messiah to the lost and dying world around us. However, we must also remember that we are to encourage one another, a.k.a. other believers, daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of us may be hardened by sin and turn away from God.

The New Testament is filled with letters written by Paul and others to the various churches/believers who were struggling with various aspects of the Christian faith, some of whom were starting to walk contrary to the faith. Their messages were meant to help the believers understand the faith and to walk faithfully with God. Friends, I can testify to the importance of both the one who shares the WAY of hope and the one who encourages a wayward or struggling believer with the TRUTH, which is able to guide us back to God. Without the first, I would still be lost and dying in my sins; and without the second, I would still be out of fellowship with God, struggling in the pit of sin and despair – naming His Name but living like the world.

You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God

We do not know the day or hour, but we do know the WAY and the TRUTH – so let’s let our lights shine out in this dark world as we wait, staying alert and eagerly anticipating the day of His return.

“Get busy with the work God has given us by reaching the world and our neighbors with the gospel. At the same time, we do not store up our treasures here on earth because we know that this world will not last. Our days are precious and time is short, so we keep our eyes heavenward as our hands stay busy. We share Christ and the reason for our hope with those in our lives. We stand firm in God’s Word even in the midst of persecutions. We remember that no matter how dark our world gets, Jesus promised that He will be with us to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). – the LGG Journal entry for Come, Lord Jesus, Come p148

Prayer of Response to the Journey

Father, how good You have been to save us by Your grace1 and free us from the law of sin and death2; and to promise us an eternity with You in Heaven3. We are most blessed. So, help us to be about our Master’s business as we wait on His return, help us to stay alert – alert to those4 around us who have not placed their faith in You and will be condemned,5 and may we be ready with an answer for the hope that is within us. Help us also have eyes to see those believers who are struggling and lift them up both in prayer and through words of encouragement that lead them back to You. Remind them, Father, that they do not have to settle for just a place in Your heaven, but they have been given the gift of a relationship with You now. Mold us, make us, use us, Lord – as we wait. In Jesus’ name – Amen!

The World-vs-Your Soul

Today’s Verse: Mark 8:36

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” Mark 8:36

Have you ever known someone that was never satisfied? You know, the person who seems to have everything going for them but they’re just never content. Their lack of satisfaction or contentment motivates them to grasp at the next best thing “the world” offers with the thought or the hope that “it” will make them happier. A better car… a bigger house… a better relationship…a better job… more money… more status… more accolades… more happiness… you get the picture. The list is endless and exhausting, and according to today’s verse – it can be dangerous.

Don’t get me wrong, none of these things in themselves are bad – but the danger comes when our motive is based on what the world offers or says is best rather than on the reality of what God has given us. For God has graciously gifted us with “life to the full”(John 3:16 and 10:10). This gift includes the Kingdom of Heaven and an eternity in paradise with Him! There is nothing better or anything in the world that can make our joy and contentment fuller than this.

My Father, the Gardener

Today’s Reading: John 15:1-16:33

“I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener.

God’s Role

This is the last of the “I AM” statements in the book of John, and a bit unique to the rest of the statements. Jesus not only identifies Himself in the statement but He also identifies the Father, saying “I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener”. While Jesus has mentioned the Father in some of his other “I AM” statements or their explanations He was mentioned in connection to Jesus and who He was. However, by introducing the Father as the gardener who prunes the branches – we now see not only what role He plays in the life and ministry of Christ – but also in the life and ministry of His followers.

 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 

John 15:2

Needless to say, God plays many roles in the lives of His people but oh the beauty of the gardener. Tending to our tender roots, watching over us and eager for us to grow healthy and strong. He prunes us so we will grow more fruit and He protects us from those branches that are bearing no fruit by taking them away. Because of the “Gardener”, I am able to stay attached to The True Vine, who keeps me from dying. I cannot survive apart from Him. He says when I remain in Him – a word He used often in this teaching – and He remains in me then I will bear much fruit. The fruit is dependent on a living thriving relationship where both parties are involved. He goes on to say that the Father or the gardener, as He is pictured here, is honored when we bear much fruit and show that we are His disciples.

As I read through this passage I’ve been reminded of my love of ferns and it hit me – I am their gardener. Not only are they a beautiful display of my favorite color but they are a soft and inviting foliage for any setting. I put ferns out from early spring to late fall every year. On the back porch they fill a variety of containers and can be seen from inside the home, enjoyed on the porch, or by the pool. On the front porch they hang from hooks, grace tables, line the steps and add beauty to old crocks. As their gardener they depend on me to water them, feed them, and on the front porch they especially need me to keep the birds from nesting in them, the beetles from eating them, and the sun from scorching them. Throughout the season I may have to cut away the occasional fronds that have turned brown or played host to a rogue beetle or two. It hurts me just a bit to do this but I know they will be better because of it. I love watching them grow and I delight in their personalities greatly affected by the amount of light and temperatures. I rotate them often giving them equal time to share in the sun and shade. I realize, as I type this, that they sound like a lot of care or work but they bring me joy and add beauty to our home. To borrow a line from Jesus about the Father, I am honored when they bear more and more beauty reflecting the love and care they have been given.

Symbolism and Application

The symbolism for me is this – Just like my ferns are a beautiful display of my favorite color, we are to be a beautiful display of Jesus, God’s only begotten Son. We are to be an attractive reminder of Him- the One of whom God said, “I am well pleased”. We are to surrender to the “gardener’s” pruning and remain in the vine, so that we can bear much fruit and show that we are His. In this way we honor the Father. Much like a home adorned with beautiful ferns, our lips should flow with the message of Christ and our lives are to be adorned with the fruit of His Spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control should define the landscape of our lives – the chief of which is LOVE. For “they will know we are Christians by our love”.

And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love,
yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.

No Other Access

Today’s Reading: John 13:31-14:31

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Loving Others

I’ve had John 13:34 in my memory bank for many years, so while it isn’t our focus/soap verse I can’t just skip by it. Love is a key ingredient of Christ’s teaching. Actually, loving others was included in the answer He gave to a teacher of the law who asked Him what the most important commandment was. After explaining that the greatest commandment is loving God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength He went on to say that loving our neighbor was equally important. Suffice it to say Love was a vital part of His teaching and He intends for it to be a vital part of the believer’s life as well. To understand why it’s so important we only have to read the next verse which says, “By this (loving like Jesus) all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

You see it isn’t just nice to love one another like Jesus has loved us, it is our testimony for Him.

 Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ 31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

“How Can We Know the Way?”

Jesus was re-emphasizing the importance of love because it would be the very thing that identified them as His witnesses when He was gone. This naturally led to great concern over where He was going and answers they didn’t quite understand. This discussion led to our focus verse today which was Jesus’ answer to Thomas who asked: “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?” The answer comes back to one we have looked at before, Jesus is the way to the Father for everyone who believes. So He makes the statement again that when we know Jesus we know “The Way”. He is not only the way to the Father, but He is the truth of the Father, in the flesh,(Psalm 119:142 and John 1:1). Finally, Jesus declares Himself to be the life from the Father, (John 3:16).

The answer to Thomas’ question is the same for us today. When we know Jesus we know The Way! While we rejoice in this we must take seriously the alternative – for those who do not know Jesus do not know the way and will have no access to the Father’s promise of eternal life. For this reason, like Jesus, we must be committed to our Father’s business – the saving of souls.

Personal Application

There are several noteworthy applications we can make from our focus/soap verse as well as others from today’s reading.

  1. Let’s look at our focus verse in John 14:6.
  • Examine how Jesus has loved you and love others like that. (13:34)
  • Be His witnesses (13:35)
  • Go “the way” of Jesus – the way of the cross. (Luke 9:23)
  • Walk in “the truth” – His Word is truth (Psalm 119:142)
  • Live “the life” of freedom that He came to give (Gal 5:1, John 10:10)
  • Enjoy the access we have to the Father. (Hebrews 4:14-16; Eph 2:18

What is the chief end of man? To glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

2. I also want to make an application note on verse 11 of chapter 14, where Jesus tells Philip to believe – if not because of what He has told them – then because of all they had seen Him do. You see, it won’t always be what we say that leads others to believe – sometimes it will be because of what we do in His name – such as loving others as He has loved us.

3. The final application came at the end of the passage, 14:31 where Jesus says to His disciples – 

but I am doing just what the Father commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Get up, let us go from here.

Actually, it’s those last five words that hit me. It is so easy and comfortable to sit in the presence of Jesus, to talk with Him – listening to Him, asking Him questions, gazing into His eyes through His Word. But, at some point we must “get up” and go out from that place of safety and comfort to do what the Father has commanded us – and this so that others may believe. For “how will they believe if they do not hear?”

As we discovered earlier this week, we are His messengers and today we have seen that we are His representatives – so that others will know that we are His disciples. In this He is glorified (made known) – and in this the Father will be pleased.

Safe and Secure In His Hands

Cornered and questioned

Once again Jesus is questioned by the Jewish leaders, this time in Solomon’s Portico of the temple area. John tells us he was “surrounded” by them, likely making it harder for Him to escape this time, and according to verse 31 they were primed and ready to stone Him. They demanded that He tell them whether or not He was really the Christ, accusing Him of keeping them in suspense. If you’ve been reading along with us our journey through John you know that this is far from the truth. Jesus has told them exactly who He is, which is exactly how He responded. “I told you and you do not believe. The deeds I do in my Father’s name testify about me. But you refuse to believe because you are not my sheep.” Sheep always recognize the voice of their shepherd and since the Jewish leaders are refusing to believe Jesus, the Good Shepherd, it is clear they do not belong to Him.

For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Safe and Secure

Jesus makes it clear to the Jewish leaders that the ones who listen to His voice and follow Him, those are His sheep. They know who He is and they trust Him. Because they belong to Him He gives them eternal life, not only allowing them to live forever but they will live forever as His – they are safe and secure from the predators who would seek to take them away from Him.

Know that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Prayer

Father, thank you for receiving me through Christ Your Son. He knows me by name. I am a sheep in His pasture, a follower of His. His voice is in my ear and I seek to follow where He leads. Help me to not falter – help me to always hear His voice and may Your Word drown out all the other voices that vie for my attention! Thank you for the gift of eternal life through Him and for the promise that I am safe in His care – I will not perish or be snatched away! With hope in Jesus’ name – AMEN!

When it Becomes Personal

 Then the father realized that that was the very time Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.” And he and his entire household believed in Jesus. 54 This was the second miraculous sign Jesus did in Galilee after coming from Judea.

Miracle Worker or Jesus?

What drew you to Jesus? The official in our story today had heard about Jesus, the miracle worker. So, naturally, when he heard Jesus was back in town he went looking for him – not just to gawk at the “miracle worker” but to ask him to help his sick son. The official pleaded with Jesus to “come down and heal the boy but instead, Jesus simply told the father that the boy would live and sent him home. The father did not continue to beg and plead but chose to believe what Jesus had said and headed toward home – no doubt to see the boy for himself and confirm the miracle – which is exactly what happened. Actually, before he even saw the boy he was greeted with the news that his son was going to live and that the improvement had happened at the time Jesus had told him, “your son will live.” Because of the miracle, not only did the boy’s father believe but his servants believed. The official had heard about a miracle worker and sought him out to heal his son – but he found so much more – for he found Jesus, the Son of God.

Life-Changing

It is a life-changing moment when we see Jesus not just as a miracle worker but as the life-giving Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. He is the real and present, intimately involved with His people, Son of God. The One who sees us and hears us and the One who gives and restores life. We must come to Him believing, but like the official in today’s account of the second miracle, we must often move forward believing without seeing … believing expecting Him to do great and wonderous things … believing and knowing He will do what is good and right and perfect according to His plan … believing and trusting and rejoicing that what is done will be for our good and His glory … believing and sharing our hope all along the way.

Prayer

Father, surely we are attracted by the wonder of who You are and what You can do- but there is nothing so special as when we know You to be a personal God full of grace and mercy, and power and love. May we not hide but share Your miraculous works

The One Who Believes and the One Who Doesn’t

35 The Father loves the Son and has placed all things under his authority. 36 The one who believes in the Son has eternal life. The one who rejects the Son will not see life, but God’s wrath remains on him.

The Message Continues

We last looked at John 3:16-17 and how God loved the world so much that He sent His only son to die on a cross for things He didn’t do- in order to save everyone who would believe in Him. In today’s passage we see how He loves Jesus, the only begotten son and how that love spills over to everyone who believes.

  • Out of God’s love for Jesus, His only begotten Son, God places all things under Jesus’ authority. This is the great news for us as believers because it means He has the power to save, to forgive, to rule over every other spirit and authority on our behalf, and it means He is equal to God the Father and no one can pluck us from His hand – we are eternally safe (secure) when we belong to Him. We will read more about this in John chapter 10.
  • Out of His love for the world God gives eternal life to all who believe in His only begotten Son.
  • Out of His love for the Son, we also see that God’s wrath remains on all who reject Jesus, His son. God wants all men to come to Him, He wants no one to perish and He has made a way for this to happen but for those who blatantly refuse Him and His gift of salvation there is only a coming judgment which ultimately includes the lake of fire – which “…According to the Bible, the lake of fire is the “second death.” This is the ultimate consequence of sin, which is to be totally cut off from God. The lake of fire will be a place of perpetual suffering and misery. Scripture indicates that every person whose name is not in the Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire”1 (Revelation 20:15). 

Eternal Life Versus The Wrath of God

Eternal Life

Remember, the Bible says we have all sinned and fall short of God’s glory and that the cost of sin is death, Romans 6:23. This certainly sounds like we have nothing to hope for but the good news is “God so loved the world” and sent His gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Because of that gift we do have hope and the promise of eternal security – if we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Wrath of God

So, what happens to those who don’t believe in the Lord Jesus Christ? The Scripture is clear that for those who do not place their faith in Jesus Christ there is no hope of escaping God’s wrath. There is no promise of eternal security, and there is no forgiveness of sins. Actually, our focus passage today says that the one who doesn’t – “rejects the Son” – will not even see life.

The wrath of God is a fearsome and terrifying thing. Only those who have been covered by the blood of Christ, shed for us on the cross, can be assured that God’s wrath will never fall on them. “Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through Him!” (Romans 5:9).

But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin, you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 He will judge everyone according to what they have done.

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

Do you want to know Him as your personal Savior? Consider these truths and believe in Him to be saved. Turn it into a prayer, tell Him you believe you are a sinner and your are coming to Him in faith – trusting Him to save you from your sins. 1 John 1:9 says that when we confess our sins He forgives us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Claim the eternal security (John 3:16) and the new life (2 Corinthians 5:17) He has promised to all who believe in Him.

God’s Gift of Love

How Deep the Father’s Love

These words, from the hymn – How Deep The Father’s Love For Us, by Stuart Townsend, came to mind as I read and began to soap this passage. It’s a perfect description of the love of God. The God who knew what was in the heart of man – yet would send His one and only son into the sin cursed world to rescue everyone who would believe in Him. Surely, there is no greater love than this – a love that would lead Him to turn His face away from His only son … a love that allowed my sin to hold Him on the cross … a love that allowed deep wounds to inflect Him on my behalf … and a love that worked in such a way that left me no room to boast – except in the cross of the One who paid my ransom.

For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (HCSB)

The Gift and Its Benefit

The gift of God’s love was Jesus Christ, His only son and the benefit or blessing of the gift was salvation for all who would believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul affirms this in Romans 6:23 where we read that, “The wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” and again in Ephesians 2:8-9 where he writes, “For it is by grace that you have been saved through faith and this is not form yourselves it is the gift of God through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

While the chief benefit of God’s gift is salvation we must not miss the secondary benefit, the freedom from condemnation of our sin. Paul affirms this benefit as well in Romans 8:1 where we read, “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”

Our Response to a Love Like This

  • Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ so that we can share in the gift (16)
  • Accepting the free gift (16)
  • Living free from the power of sin (Romans 6:1-2, 14)
  • Walking in the freedom of no condemnation (18)
  • Practicing the truth so that others may see, hear, and know God. (21)

What Believers Need to Remember and Unbelievers Need to Know

We have all sinned and fall short of God’s glory, we need a savior. Roman 3:23

Jesus is the only Way to eternal security. John 14:6

He was crucified, dead, buried, and raised to life to be our redeemer. Ephesians 1:7

Believing that – having faith in what Jesus Christ has done for you and you will be saved. Acts 16:31

Hear what God’s Word says – “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:9-10

An Invitation

Do you want to know Him as your personal Savior? Consider these truths and believe in Him to be saved. Turn it into a prayer, tell Him you believe you are a sinner and your are coming to Him in faith – trusting Him to save you from your sins. 1 John 1:9 says that when we confess our sins He forgives us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Claim the eternal security (John 3:16) and the new life (2 Corinthians 5:17) He has promised to all who believe in Him.

Today we’re reading John 1:12-22, and the SOAP passage is John 1:22

After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered he had said this, and they believed both the Scriptures and what Jesus had said.

The End Before the Beginning

Both of my daughters love to read, however, one of them is known to – and even enjoys starting in the back of the book just to see how it ends. It drives me crazy, I don’t want to know the ending I want to follow along from the beginning and imagine along the way where or how it will end. For Abi though it somehow makes the journey a bit better when she knows where she’s going and exactly what is going to happen at the end of the destination. She’s not a surprise me kind of girl. As I began to write the outtake of this passage this quirky little habit of hers came to mind as I reflected on the oddness of John’s spoiler alert, not only that Jesus died but that He had been raised from the dead. WHAT? Didn’t we just ‘see’ Him as He was traveling through Galilee meeting disciples turning water into wine? Yes, we did, but John has a point to make throughout his Gospel that causes him to take a different approach than the other three. Instead of sharing these details at the end of Jesus’ ministry he shares them right up front and let’s the listener/reader know the end almost before the beginning. Why such a spoiler alert? Simply put, it is a way of letting the people know who He is and giving them proof all along the way that confirms what they’ve already been told and deepens the roots of their faith.

The Benefit of Remembering

“His disciples remembered that He (Jesus) had said this.” Of all the lines in this 11 verse passage, I believe this is my favorite. It seems to me that it is the key to our believing and finding hope in the difficult times of life. To have the Word planted in us and then see it coming alive around us not only deepens the roots of our faith but it heightens our senses to His work and presence in and around us. It’s a great example of why it’s important and beneficial to follow God’s instructions to teach the Scriptures diligently to our children and talk about them when we are at home or when we walk along the road, or lie down and get up, 1 and perhaps why Solomon wrote the words of Proverbs 4:20-22, telling his son not to lose sight of His words but to let them penetrate his heart, emphasizing that they were life to those who find them and healing to their whole body. God’s Word is important, it is valuable beyond measure and it is meant to be remembered. So important is ‘remembering’ to the deepening of our faith that God gave us His Spirit to teach us and to remind us of everything Jesus said (John 14:26).

They Believed

Note what happens after they remembered … “they believed both the Scriptures and what Jesus had said.” We have to be careful to understand they had already believed in Jesus and had chosen to follow Him as disciples – but what they had believed was now solidified with more proof. Their confidence in who Jesus was – was being strengthened – and yet again, the roots of their faith were growing deeper.

Today

The benefits of ‘remembering’ are still the same today. Whether we memorize Scripture, remember verses from our childhood, have them on notecards, read the Scriptures daily, or the Spirit reminds us of one – the benefit of being familiar with God’s Word is great comfort in times of stress and strife, it is courage for our fears, peace that guards our hears and minds as we live in Christ Jesus. it is a lamp to guide us in our decisions and a light that illuminates God’s will and way. It is protection when we are tempted and strength when we are weak. It’s benefits are actually countless and invaluable to our faith. So, we must do well at following Solomon’s words of wisdom and not allow ourselves to lose sight of God’s Word, what He has done or said , but rather let it penetrate our hearts and minds – for, as the Proverb says, His words will bring life to those who find them and healing to our whole body, and they will help us not sin against Him. We would be wise to keep our minds on Him the giver of “perfect peace”, on His Word, His accomplishments, and His mission so that our faith roots grow deeper, our trust is strengthened and we are able to share the message with others.

Thanksgiving

Father, thank you for the richness of Your Word – the promises and the fulfillments. The hope and the confidence we gain from it is priceless. It is the power to save and the strength to continue. Help us to fix our eyes on You – to remember the battle is over and the victory is won!
